Beauty Insider: Daily Skincare Routine

8:11:00 AM

Hello Everyone!

Every girl loves a bit of pampering from time to time. However, I have always been kind of bad with skincare and have recently come to the conclusion that my skin needs a bit more loving than quacking on a strawberry scented mask once a month while watching Gossip Girl and eating icecream. As I've become more invested in my blog and more interested in the beauty world, I've also learned a lot about skincare routines and how important it is to take proper care of your skin.

There are so many brands and so many different types of product to choose from, that choosing proper items for a skincare regime can be quite overwhelming. I didn't go out to buy all of the products I currently use at once, but I have sort of accumulated them over time. However, I figured I'd write a post to tell you guys about the products I use to maybe give you a little push in the right direction, or at least to give you an idea of what the products are like so you can decide if you'd like to use them or not.

Let's start with a clean, "naked" face. Before I get into the shower I take off all my makeup with Equate Sensitive Skin makeup wipes (available at Walmart). I know makeup wipes are a big no-no in the beauty world, but to be honest I just really don't like taking of my makeup with water or any other type of makeup remover because liquids make my mascara burn my eyes and I also just really don't like wetting my face and getting my hair wet. However, I never go to bed without taking my makeup off. Seriously, even if it's 3 am and you just got back from a party and you're super drunk and tired, take off your makeup. Not taking off your makeup is one of the most damaging things you can do to your skin. Just do it.

Another thing I do before I get into the shower is put on the Freeman 'Feeling beautiful Facial Anti-Stress Mask with Dead Sea Minerals' (available at Walmart)
I let it on for about ten minutes -until you look and feel like a smurf who's just had so much botox injected that she can't portray any emotions on her face- and then rinse it off in the shower.  It leaves your skin feeling soft as a babies bottom and it just feels amazing.

In the shower the only product I use is the Babor Mild Peeling Cleanser (bought at my local beauty salon but also available online) -which has lasted me surprisingly long considering how small the packaging is. The cleanser is a lovely soft lotion infused with little kernels to scrub dead skin off your face while hydrating the skin at the same time.

Some of the products I like to use only once or twice a week rather than on a daily schedule are the PureDerm Botanical Choice 'Nose Pore Strips Tea Tree' and Prreti "Refreshing Lemon Pads' (both available at Forever 21). I like to combine the two when I'm a little stressed out and need 15 minutes to relax and reboot. First you need to thoroughly wet your nose so the nose strips adhere to the nose. Simply apply a lemon pad to each cheek, close your eyes and relax. After about 15 minutes the nose strip will feel pretty hard, which is the sign that relaxing time is over and it's time to get back to work. Because the strip stick to your nose it might be slightly painful to take it off, but you can add water to loosen it up so it will come straight off.

Most of my skincare routine takes place at night, after I've taken off all my makeup, mainly because I like the idea of my skin having time to absorb the products before I put on makeup, but also because I'm too tired and lazy to do any work in the mornings. The first product I use is the L'Oreal Dermo-Expertise 'Hydrafresh Toner' (available at Walmart), which gets rid of any excess dirt left over on your face. Simply apply some toner to a cotton swipe and thoroughly clean the face. After this, I use The Body Shop's 'Seaweed Clarifying Night Treatment' for combination/oily skin (available at The Body Shop). Because Serum is a highly concentrated product, you only need to use a pea sized amount on the face and neck. Serums are basically like magic creams because they get rid of any negative features on the face. This, of course, depends on what kind of serum you get. The Seaweed serum I use "Balances excess oil as it moisturizes". Wait about 5 minutes after you've applied the serum to really let it get into the skin before you put on your moisturizer. Moisturizer is the only product I use at night as well as before I put on my makeup. The moisturizer I use is Clean&Clear 'Dual Action Moisturizer' (available at Walmart). I like this moisturizer because it really moisturizes the skin but gets absorbed easily- not leaving your skin greasy or wet.

After this whole routine is done, I finally go to bed where I don't get nearly enough sleep because I'm always up way too late writing blogposts or looking at senseless things on the internet -kind of like right now-. When will I ever learn?

I hope this was useful to you! Let me know if it was!

Hugs and Kisses!
